Herstory 2

The Legal History of Chinese American Women

Herstory 2 is about the legal cases fought by the Chinese American women in the U.S. Supreme Court and the supreme courts of various states.

Starting from 1912 to 2020, this exhibit covers landmark cases, including the sexual discrimination lawsuit filed by Ellen Pao and the #MeToo Movement. During this time period, there were more than 10 Chinese American women elected to the government office who became Senators, Assemblywomen and Mayors. Chinese American women have not only weathered gender inequality, but racial discrimination as well, and this exhibit documents the contributions they have made to earn their well-deserved place in history.
