From the Author : My aspiration is to document the oral histories of 100 distinguished Chinese-American women in the United States. Through my writing, I hope to shed light on their remarkable journeys and capture the essence of their experiences. With 16 books already published, my ultimate goal is to showcase the extraordinary achievements, challenges, and triumphs of these trailblazers, and inspire readers to pursue their own aspirations with tenacity and fortitude. May the tales of these remarkable women ignite a spark of inspiration within each of us, empowering us to pursue our dreams and leave our mark on the world.

導演李安是華人裡獲得奧斯卡金像獎最多的人，包括兩屆的最佳導演獎，一屆最佳外國影片獎，名滿天下，婦孺皆知。像這樣的才子，不知道他的佳人是何種面貌？我在第一次從Zoom 上面見到林惠嘉，跟她講上一席話，小小的虛榮心就得到極大的滿足。
李安的才華蓋世，思緒縝密，世所皆知，如果說他的頭腦沒有用在選太太上，可能嗎？
李安是29歲結婚的，他似乎從來沒有其他女朋友。他的擇偶條件是什麼？絕不是那短暫的、激情的愛，林惠嘉說了，我們從沒說「我愛你」，李安的告白是「我非常依賴她」，依賴她的生養兩個兒子、照顧家中瑣事，安排休閒行程，傾訴苦惱，還依賴她的智慧、危機處理、及各種生活上的常識及能力，說白了就是管家兼佣人兼保姆兼導師兼心理治療師，而林惠嘉則是以微生物學博士的身分、哲學家的悟境，從天而降，去做這些她老公拒絕做的大小事。
李安一天到晚全世界勘景、拍片、麻煩事一大堆，他最不需要的就是娶個影后或世界小姐，自戀又自私，還要他安撫她隨時會爆發的小姐脾氣，這說明了為什麼李安儘管每天美女環繞，卻從來沒有緋聞。李安，是個明白人！佩服之至。
我的幾位好友，包括電影“臥虎藏龍”的第一位編劇蔡國榮教授，以及聯合報文教基金會執行長邱文通，在看完書稿以後，居然都是急吼吼的打越洋電話告訴我，「情深意切，感人至極！」
替他們感到高興的是，經歷這麼多年風雨，她和李安先苦後樂，然後走到今天的名滿天下。根據林惠嘉，李安對自己拍電影只有一個心願，就是要越拍越好。大家都知道拍電影要成功，四萬八千種緣分都要具備，所以他們對自己的要求，也一定會越來越高。我衷心的祝福他們：心想事成。
